When you use a computer for a long time, you may install various programs and the C drive may become full.
Usually, the C drive has a small capacity and the D drive, where data is stored, has a larger capacity.
And when the computer slows down or an error occurs, when formatting, I don't touch the files on the D drive, I just delete the C drive where Windows is installed and reinstall it. But the problem is the desktop. I don't always save files on the D drive. I save them on the desktop first and then move them to the D drive when I'm done.
In preparation for this, it's a good idea to set the path of the desktop to the D drive.
It's very easy.
1. Create a folder called 'Desktop' in the D drive.
2. Find the desktop path of the C drive and right-click the mouse.
3. Right-click and 'Properties' will appear at the bottom. Click on it and you will see the following
General, Sharing, Security, and then 'Location' menus.
4. In the Location menu, click 'Move' in the middle and specify the 'Desktop' folder on the D drive that you created initially.
5. Done. Easy, right?
Please set the desktop D drive to reduce the capacity of the C drive and lower the risk of it disappearing.
Now you don't have to worry about losing data on your desktop when Windows crashes.
I always do this when I set up other people's computers. They all love it.
